Wk4 Reading: Art of Possibility, Chapters 7-12

I am convinced that somewhere along the way in the history of humankind, we have lost some of the values that separate us from the rest of the living beings that exists in this planet. The question here is: Are we going to be able to go back and recuperate those values before it is too late?. Well, the answer to this question is in our hands, the teachers of today, who are preparing the citizens of tomorrow. Let's make our big effort to not let die the wonderful things that our grandparents were proud to show to their counterparts, let's get back to the world where you could trust in your neighbors, your politicians and your teachers. Let's not forget from where we are comming from, and the foundations that our grandparents established when they created our countries; the vision that they had at the time of creating the constitution, something that I am affraid many people living today don't have anymore.
Why do WE try to blame others for our own mistakes, why it is so difficult today to recognize that you had made an error and ask for forgiveness to the people that were affected by this decision. In my case I always try to look back and learn from my mistakes, so I can become a better person and a better professional. At this moment the song "Imagine" by John Lenon comes to my mind and I feel its message complements what it is imply on this book. I have the same dream, and I hope that many people will join someday soon, before there is nothing else left in this planet.
Claudio,
ResponderEliminarThank you for so eloquently stating what is on my mind. What can we do to create a sustainable present and future for our children? How do we keep those values relevant and apparent to our students and children?
I really liked the one-buttock-pianist. Changing from complacency is at issue as well. As educators are we giving it our all? And what is that exactly?
I just a poster with the Lennon lyrics on it. I've been thinking for a while that we are living in a time where we seem to need each other for our basic needs less and less, thanks to tech, and that is enabling us to work less and less together which can be a big negative. If there is a positive, it's that we have greater choice in how we work together and with whom we work and we're not limited to our neighbors but anyone in the whole world.
